Professor Matt Jubera is the most decorated competitor in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Colorado. He is a World Champion, Pan American and National Champion. He is the first person that 7 time world champion Xande Ribeiro put a black belt around and is Saulo Ribeiro's 4th American black belt. Professor Jubera stands out as one of the few Americans to hold Black Belts in both Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Judo. Xande Ribeiro describes Professor Jubera as having the most similar game to his own.

Matt Jubera is a lifelong martial artist. He started in Tae Kwon Do at the age of 9 he after 4 years of training, won a gold medal in the Junior Olympics. In high school he found wrestling and became a captain of his wrestling team. At the University of Michigan he started training and teaching at the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu club. When Saulo and Xande moved to Toledo, Ohio and opened academies in both Toledo and Dearborn, Michigan, he was able to train everyday with the top BJJ competitors of all time.
In 2006 after winning the Pan Ams at Purple belt, Matt competed in Brazil taking third in the World Cup (where Xande won his first Open Weight title at black belt). When Saulo and Xande moved to California to open up the University of Jiu-Jitsu in San Diego and Matt moved to Colorado where he continued training and teaching.
In 2008 he won Pan Ams at brown belt. After taking 3rd in the open weight division in 2009, he won his division for the second time and Saulo Ribeiro took off Matt's brown belt and Xande Ribeiro put on his black belt. In 2010 he left his job as a software developer to teach full time. While most American black belts stop competing, Matt continued to compete winning numerous Colorado belts and taking home the American National gold medal in 2011. In 2012 he became the first American to win the Masters World Championship ages 30-35). In 2013 he took 3rd in the adult No Gi World Championships and continues to compete against the younger competitors. In 2015 he opened up Jubera Jiu-Jitsu in Broomfield, Colorado also serving the North Denver, Westminster and Thorton communities. He lives with his wife and German shepherd in Westminster, Colorado.
