Just a heads up that we will be have normal schedule though the MLK Jr holiday. Our schedule has changed a little bit with our 6 AM class with Coach Gavin moving to Wednesday. Here is our current schedule.
In competition news my instructor Xande Ribeiro started off the year great with a win in the Abu Dhabi grand slam this weekend. He showed off some great weave passing and hand in the collar guard. Also congrats to Nick Hall of Catalyst BJJ for winning his mma fight with a triangle choke on Friday. Nick is a frequent addition to our Tuesday pro training. Here is a video of Xande finishing his kimura vs the deep half guard.
In future competition news we are showing off our female competition crew at this Fight to Win Pro event with Ashley facing off against Brittney Elkins and Tessa facing off Jennifer Perez. If you want to support and view the event you can ask them about getting tickets. The tournament will be the following day on Saturday, Feb 11th. With the tournament now just under 4 weeks away we will start getting ready for it.
Also we are also planning on sending a team to compete at the Pans in california in March along with a prep trip out after the Fight to Win tournament.
In the youth classes the little samurai's will continue to go over the kimura submission while the samurai's will go over their tripod sweeps.
The fundamental class will be going covering their osoto gari takedown and open guard. The all levels class will be going over their cross knee passes and attacks. The advanced class will be going over their x guard to the leg drag.
For some fun, here is a video showing how to avoid tapping out to my friend Tom Feister.
