Rafael Lovato Jr. is the most decorated American in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He is a no gi world champion and the one of only two americans to win the World Championships. He will be teaching a seminar here at Jubera Jiu-Jitsu in Broomfield, CO on Wednesday, October 7th from 6 - 8 PM. He is one of Professor Matt's best training partners and mentors. He is probably best known for his guard work and kimura shoulder lock from the top. We are very excited to have him teaching at our academy. |
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu World Champion Rafael Lovato Jr is coming to Juberajj | Ribeiro Jiu-Jitsu Denver9/28/2015 On Saturday July 25, 2015, we will be hosting Xande Ribeiro at our academy in Broomfield, Colorado. Xande is the top bjj fighter of all time according to BJJHeroes.com. He most recently won the 2015 World Championship in the heavyweight category, his seventh World Title. The 2015 IBJJF World Championships will be taking place this weekend so I just wanted to throw my predictions in for the black belt adult male competition. You can see the brackets here.
Rooster: I think the finals will come down to Bruno Malfacine vs Joao Miyao. You really have Bruno's X guard vs Joao's De la Riva Berimbolo game. I see Bruno's experience shine through and have him coming out on top by advantages. Light Feather: With Gui Mendes now retired this division should be Paulo Miyao's division to lose. I see Paulo beating Samir Chantre by choke in the finals. Jubera Jiu-Jitsu will be doing Self-Defense seminar and demonstration at the grand opening of the Sports Authority at 92nd and Sheridan May 2nd from 11:45 AM to 12:45. I will be covering standup self-defense techniques such as defense against the hand in the throat to an armlock, wrist releases, headlock escapes and other common scenarios needed to get a person street ready. Most self-defense situation end up in a grappling situation and that is why Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is the best martial art for self-defense. Our techniques use large body movements such as bear hugs that work well under stress compared to other moves that are too complex to work under stress. They also can be tried on resisting opponents compared to eye gouges and groin strikes which can't be practiced at full speed and therefore give a false sense of confidence. So if you are interested in seeing what BJJ is about, then check out our self-defense seminar this Saturday.
I have some friends competing in the next Fight to Win Tournament on 2/21/2015, so I thought I would share some things that I make sure that I bring when I compete.
Try to arrive at least an hour before you are supposed to compete so that you can find your coach/professor. Scout the layout and get ready. I try to avoid being there for more than 2 hours before my match if possible, but I know that isn't always something in your control I know there has been a lot of excitement about getting our place up and running and when classes are going to start our BJJ classes going. Our brand new fuji mats are in once the rest of the flooring gets done we should be start having some asap. So if you are interested in getting on the mats and training. Shoot me an email and I will get our on our email list. I can't wait to bring the best BJJ to Broomfield, Colorado and the surrounding areas.
