Happy new year from the Jubera and Ribeiro Jiu-Jitsu family! I am very proud of the hard work that we put in last year and I am really excited about the next year of BJJ. During the break I was able to get a lot done to prepare for 2017 to be our best year yet and provide even more for our students and parents.
I expect some big classes this week as people come back from the holidays. So make sure to introduce yourself to any new faces or reconnect with friends you haven't seen for a bit.
In the coming weeks we have a girls open mat on Sunday, January 22nd. Talk to Coach Hannah for details. It has been great to have a strong female community that trains with passion is
Our next tournament is Feb 11th.Last tournament we earned our first team trophy beating out many larger academies with great technique and determination. I hope to be able to repeat our results this time.
The next international tournament on the calendar is IBJJF Pans on March 15th-19th. This is one of the biggest tournaments of the year and is held in Irvine, California. In preparation for our international events we want to do add some travel training camps. Our first one before Masters Worlds last year was a blast and this will even be open to those not competing. I will have a specific date for this after talking with Xande and Lovato Jr.
We are starting off the year working on Saulo's seoi nage shoulder throw and side control attacks in the fundamentals. The advanced classes will follow with working on x-guard entries. The all levels will be working on cross knee passes and attacks. Our little samurai's will be working on their kimura attacks while the older age group will be working on the tripod sweeps.
I am excited to start the 2017 off with some great Jiu-Jitsu.
