Jubera Jiu-Jitsu will be doing Self-Defense seminar and demonstration at the grand opening of the Sports Authority at 92nd and Sheridan May 2nd from 11:45 AM to 12:45. I will be covering standup self-defense techniques such as defense against the hand in the throat to an armlock, wrist releases, headlock escapes and other common scenarios needed to get a person street ready. Most self-defense situation end up in a grappling situation and that is why Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is the best martial art for self-defense. Our techniques use large body movements such as bear hugs that work well under stress compared to other moves that are too complex to work under stress. They also can be tried on resisting opponents compared to eye gouges and groin strikes which can't be practiced at full speed and therefore give a false sense of confidence. So if you are interested in seeing what BJJ is about, then check out our self-defense seminar this Saturday.
